hiKin began with a love for the Grand Canyon—and a responsibility to help people prepare for it. Below the rim, water, nutrition, shade, timing, route, and logistics all matter.
That same practical mindset shaped the gear. Co-founder and veteran Grand Canyon hiker Brian Speciale wanted daypack capacity with running-vest-style access, so water, a phone, snacks, and essentials could stay within reach instead of buried in compartments. Rim2Rim came first. Canyon Elite followed.

Brian and Zeena Speciale founded Bright Angel Outfitters in 2024, which became hiKin in 2025. Based in North Phoenix, they remain close to the trails, hikers, and community behind the brand.
