Is water always available on Grand Canyon corridor trails?

No. Water availability can change because of seasonal operations, maintenance, pipeline breaks, freezing temperatures, and other park conditions. Always check current status immediately before your hike.

Where can I check Grand Canyon trail water status?

Should I carry a water filter below the rim?

Yes. The hiKin standard is to always carry a suitable filter or purification method below the rim. Supplied water is not guaranteed and can be disrupted without notice.

Is drinking water available on the South Kaibab Trail?

No. There is no drinking water between the South Kaibab Trailhead and the Phantom Ranch area. Carry enough water for the entire exposed descent and plan conservatively, especially during warmer months.
